FEATURE STORY
Reedsburg Historical
Society
We
had
just
spent 4 long hours taking a tour at the House on the Rock when we found
this
gem of history sitting on the side of the road. This place had hundreds
of
years of history hidden in a few oversize sheds and a variety of well
preserved
buildings. A few things here caught my eye. The first was a schoolhouse
sitting
as though it were waiting for school to return back in session. The
kids had
the opportunity to ring the school bell and then went inside to see how
the
children back then did their studies. It was an excellent learning
experience.
The
next
item that caught my eye was the old church. The lady who escorted us
around
explained that the church stills get used occasionally with couples who
enjoy
the nostalgia of being married in a historical setting such as this. It
is
definitely something you would remember for the rest of your life. I
could sit
and try to explain everything they have here but it would never do them
justice,
including an American Flag which flew over the office of President John
Adams
from 1797 to 1801. If you are into seeing the history of our country
you will
find more than you may ever expect. Take a trip to Reedsburg and take a
look
they would love to have you visit, and don’t forget to donate
a couple bucks to
help them continue the excellent work being done there.
